The women of Riverview Ladies Golf Club have played at Ivanhoe Golf Course for 73 years and are very proud of their history. To celebrate their longevity, they recently launched a new book “Riverview Ladies Golf Club – a pictorial history.”
“We had an amazing collection of memorabilia and photographs that had been faithfully kept, but it was all in boxes so rarely seen by the members” said Julie Woolf, the Club’s historian and Life Member.
Lindy Stirling the Club Captain said “I had the IT know-how and with a team of members assisting, we have been able to collate over 750 photographs that tell the story of the Club, the course and snapshot of the Victorian Women’s Golf League to present day.”
Current and past members gathered for the launch where much laughter and reminiscing was heard in the club rooms as they delighted in the achievements of the club (both on and off the course) including Pennant teams, club records, trophies won, fundraising and their many social events.
Golf brings us together initially, but provides so much more in friendship and support that we give and receive. The ever- present spirit of fun enriches us as individuals and unites us as a club. May there be many more years for Riverview Ladies to celebrate!
