Rules for the upcoming mixed pennant season can be found here.
Unlike last season which only had 3 rounds and a final (all at Waverley GC), this season will consist of a full home and away season (6 rounds) with a final, between the top two sides at the completion of those Home and Away matches, to be played at Waverley GC (Endeavour Hills). The dates for each round are:
Rounds 1 – 31st of August
Rounds 2 – 7th of September
Rounds 3 – 14th of September
Rounds 4 – 21st of September
Rounds 5 – 5th of October
Rounds 6 – 12th of October
Final – 19th of October
The team will consist of eight players – 4 male and 4 female. (We will consider 6 player teams if enough demanded is there).
It is possible for clubs of one gender to combine with another V.G.L. club of the opposite gender to make up a team. Last season one of the winning teams was the amalgamation of Creekside and Albert Park Ladies!
The rules align with the current men’s pennant rules i.e.
Handicap seeded pennant
Males v Males
Females’ v Females
Mixed groups
Low GA handicaps
If your club is going to enter a team, can you please let me know ASAP. The deadline for the entry of a team is the 21st of June.
The Mixed Pennant rules are also on the Forms & documents page on VGL website. The fixture will also be located there once it is published.
Where possible we shall grade the teams according to the locations of the clubs to minimise travel.
It is the responsibility of each club to book tee times for their home games and inform the VGL’s Executive Manager so as though those tee times can be advertised to the opposition clubs. This will be done via the Pennant information for visiting teams Wufoo form, the link to which will be published once the draw is published in late June.
As with Men’s Pennant the home team will pay for both team’s green fees. Convention is for the host club to provide a meal and drinks for players and manager. This is NOT a compulsory provision. A club may decide not to provide meals or drinks but MUST inform opposition clubs in writing at same time as notifying tee off times.
As with the other VGL pennant competitions, at the end of season there will be a review, and this will determine if changes are required to this evolving form of VGL pennant.
If you have any questions, please contact the VGL Executive Manager (info@vgl.golf).
