Monay the 16th of February saw the first VGL Women’s Event for the 2026 season, with the Committee Invitational returning after a year’s hiatus in a new spot in the calendar and a new location at Medway Golf Club.
In an encouraging sign for the new location and date, 57 Women braved the rising temperatures to represent their clubs. Some great rounds were had by the participants with the top 10 players in the event all scoring better than 36 points! In the end it was Jo Cohen from Camberwell Ladies who came out on top with an impressive 41 points. Zoe Griffith from Altona Lakes took out 2nd spot with 40 points on a count back from the day’s low handicapper Kanchan Rup from Craigieburn Willmott.

In addition to the Committee Invitational an Irish Teams Stableford event was also run. The runaway 7-point winners of the event were the group of Rosemary Fry (Brighton), Lorraine Kowalski (Craigieburn Willmott), Margaret Moore (Wattle Park) and Angela Madden (Normanby Park).
